Born in Manhattan to artist parents, Antonio Ballatore catapulted into the public eye as the winner of HGTV’s Design Star, where he became known for his avant-garde design aesthetic as well as his motto, “Go big or go home.” Immersed in art and design from an early age, his father’s art studio often served as his playground.
He worked as a set designer for legendary photographers David LaChapelle, Annie Liebovitz, Peter Lindbergh, David Sims, and Mark Seliger on editorials for GQ, Vanity Fair, Italian Vogue, Playboy, and Rolling Stone. He also designed and built numerous high-profile restaurants, hotels, and bars nationwide. An avid musician, he has toured the world with New York punk bands.
Ballatore starred in his own HGTV design series, “The Antonio Treatment,” before becoming the host/designer/lead builder of Animal Planet’s new show Animal Cribs. Through his brand “Born With A Tail,” he launched his apparel line for humans and pets. Called “The Lady Gaga of Interior Design” by LA Weekly, he is based in Los Angeles.
Born With A Tail was born from Antonio Ballatore's design background and love of animals. It's Antonio's personal creative outlet that mixes functionality and his eye for design.
